My chess game isn't approving overall just fluxuating up and down?

Whats the best and most effective defence against whites king pawn opening? I know its the Sicilian Defence but I'm having trouble playing it properly. Are there other defence that are more effective than the Sicilian.

1...e5, best by test.

I play e5, a symmetrical game and lose a majority of the games. It seems like black is always 1 tempo behind in playing e5.

I like the scandinavian defense 1...d5

It's easy to learn and to play. It gives Black a solid control on the center and allows a quick developpement.

The variation I prefer is

1 e4 d5

2 exd5 Qxd5

Then 99% of the time White plays 3 Nc3 to threaten the Queen and the most popular continuation is 3...Qa5.

The following move order varies but usually Black wants to play c6, Bf5, e6, Nd7 and castle long.

1.e4 Nf6

This can be strong, don't use it bullet though.
