#21 he last spoke about certain topics that would validate a mute on a thread that is now completely gone. This was 8-9 months ago, give or take. He has never done it since because he received some minor dislikes for it and he acknowledged that he had done something dumb and wouldn’t do it again. This was before he was closed the first time(!).

I think it's unlikely that the mod team would mute an account for no reason. He probably said something the mods thought violated the rules. He will be back once the mute period is over. If the mods reversed a mute time over complaints from users, it would set a bad precedent. It's just a mute, he will be back.

25 I would assume the same thing, given cc is a massive company with 100 million users. You’d think their moderation team would avoid making such mistakes. Then again, it only takes 1 bad apple sometimes to mess up a whole system

The trouble with speculating over this is that we don’t have access to the reason why he was muted, for user privacy reasons. He should have received an email with the reason. If they aren’t sending out that information, that’s not transparent as you say and is a problem.

Recently, this user has faced a rapid series of bans/mutes, very few of which followed rules of fair moderation. Firstly, the initial ban still does not have a completely confirmed reason.
Where is the facts?

27 he hadn’t received anything such. That’s the whole point of the letter, and why I emphasized rule 3 so much. Transparency and reasoning is extremely important to keep fair moderation running. When it isn’t given, that’s a serious issue.

Breeze can show you the reasons of his mutes

Avatar of TheLordWalkedWithUs
Why? Breeze has nothing to do with it.
Avatar of APersonWhoYoyos
No she can’t. She speculated with me in dms, but she has no idea either. She assumes they are due to his horrible comments (in her opinion) towards her, but she doesn’t know either
Avatar of Chirpbird
Yes, they absolutely need to give reasons for mutes. They should have paid moderators doing this full time. That would help. It’s unbelievable how cheap chess.com is in that regard.
Avatar of APersonWhoYoyos
31 she may or may not. There is no proof either way
Avatar of Chirpbird
If breeze wrote something against the terms of service, she would be muted too right now. There is no conspiracy of bias here. Likely just lack of transparency with giving the reason for a mute. It’s really not that hard to just follow the rules and avoid a mute!

31 their official reasoning for the bans was a vague “registration issue”. There still is no reasoning for the mutes that basix has received.
Avatar of Chirpbird
They should absolutely give him a reasoning for the mute. And a reasoning that is clear and not vague.
Avatar of APersonWhoYoyos
35 I agree that’s likely, but it’s not certain. Because there are so many staff members and mods, it’s hard to know which ones specifically were involved. However the actual staff team should have records of it, which means they can go back and deem if the punishments were fair or not.

Facts?

Avatar of APersonWhoYoyos
It’s ridiculous that he has to contact support to get reasoning in the first place. Reasoning should be explained on punishment, not at users request.
Avatar of APersonWhoYoyos
39 they are facts, came from basix himself
Avatar of SAMford-AH-64-MAGA

basix is a liar. Where is the proof?
