my story.

yea hi, it’s dream! lowk haven’t made a thread in a bit so I wanted to talk about my life. before otf, before everything, here it is:

I start my life out in Singapore. At such a young age, I already knew a bit of Chinese- I lost it pretty much instantly though. Two years after I was born, my parents, my brother, and I had to move. My parents wanted good schools for me and my brother, and they decided to move to Texas.
I don’t remember much of my earlier life, but I do remember one thing- started chess. At around 7 years old, I was introduced to the wonderful game, and my dad even made an account for me here on chess.com! I didn’t actually use it for a bit though. When I was around 8 or 9 I also started soccer, which is still my favorite sport to this day. This was also around the time I started to play piano, and I’m decent at it.
Now let’s talk about chess again-
Shortly after my dad taught me the basic rules of chess, he enrolled me into an online chess class, at the beginning we used more of lichess but we gradually used chess.com more in the end. At first, they were only 4 kids: me, my brother, and two others I didn’t know. At the end of classes we would always do a mini tournament, and I would always cook. There was a massive skill gap in between us. My brother shortly quit, and started taking French classes instead.
On March 21, 2024, I reached 1100 rapid, a pretty big milestone for me at the time. I would continue to gradually increase my elo until now, 1700. This is also around the time I started my otb journey. On may, 2024, (not sure of the exact date) I started my otb journey and got 5th on my first tournament ever, gaining me a trophy. Now let’s talk a little about otf. Around 2022, i started my otf journey and made some rather embarrassing threads. They were terrible, I was pretty dumb back then. I quit basically instantly. Rejoining back in January 2026, it has been an amazing experience and I’m gonna stay here as long as possible.
Around mid 2025, my dad decided to switch me to an actual irl coach. I quit the online coaching thing around the same. The irl coach was a GM, and he helped me out a lot. My otb is currently around 1400-1500, and I’m hoping to possible get to 1600 in the near future.
Now, why not talk about school? During my early years of school, I was a pretty smart. Definitely the smartest or second smartest in my class-
However. I had a weakness- I was quiet. I was a pretty quiet kid back then, and I didn’t have much friends. However, around 3rd grade I got a lot of friends around that time period, and I went from the quiet kid to a pretty talkative guy, and luckily, I remained a smart kid.
I also started cello a few months ago, it has been an amazing instrument to learn in my opinion.
Now. The last thing I want to talk about is otf, (again)
This is focused more a the january-now part of my otf journey. Upon rejoining otf, I saw a lot of new faces and I wanted to get popular quick- so I began my career by being very annoying.. I made many threads at once and it quickly got me some hate. I decided to stop and just focus on one ama, which is now my most popular thread “Dream AMA 🥀.” I want to give a shoutout to @tag, he was always my friend around here otf, and I wanted to thank him for being such a good friend and a funny guy. Around one or two months ago, my popularity sky-rocketed, and my ama got very popular, and I made a lot of friends along the way such as Leroy, Riyanshu, najwa, rose, shorki, ryuha, and many, MANY, more.
I want to thank all of you for this amazing journey, hopefully you all enjoyed getting a peek of what my life has been like, and I’m OUT!
