If it works out like the switch 1, then the price will only go up
The switch 1 price is up $100 from when it first launched

Also, comparing it to how other devices work, the 450 price tag is actually pretty good, judging that the steam deck is typically a lil more expensive, and consoles like Xbox and ps are more expensive. I ain’t even gonna mention pc, cuz u need to spend at least 1k for it to be worth it

Atermarket my friend. Find the right deal on eBay and you’re set. If you need extra storage grab a spare sd card as they’re dirt cheap, and then boom, you’ve got a crazy powerful handheld. Lightly used is not a big deal when it comes to steam decks, they’re built to last and buying open box or lightly used will allow you to get a far higher end model than what you likely could buy new.

You don’t even need a steam deck if your target is Nintendo switch. The Ayn Odin 2 is 300 dollars, android based so easier to set up, and it can do switch just as well, not to mention has a gigantic battery so it’s pretty much the only device that can play switch games for as long as the battery on an actual switch, plus is much lighter than a steam deck, only downside is no access to steam library, but there’s a Linux port for it now so you can also play ps3 Xbox and pc games there

What if I just want the actual switch?
I’d rather have something I at least understand then whatever the heck an Ayn Odin 2 is

The new Mario Kart looks exquisite, but it sure as hell isn’t worth $80 USD. Though to be fair, there must’ve been tons of work put into it, so maybe it justifies the price?

Tbh, Nintendo games have been about $60 for a long time
Also, with tariffs (not political) and other companies also raising their price, Nintendo can prob do it as well

The new game also has a heck of a lot more coding and content than the previous one. Just adding rail grinding and wall riding alone probably took nearly a year to work on every surface, with thousands of lines of code

Ok, I guess that’s fair then. I still think it would’ve been smarter to give it a lower price, though. I just hope they don’t get much higher than that.

nintendo said that was the planned price tag before the tariffs

I can understand that, and I’d say that you’re pretty much Nintendos target audience when it comes to switch, personally though when I look at switch all I see is how much better of a deal it is to get a similarly priced or even lower priced handheld that can do all systems up to and including switch without requiring a membership fee and at a much higher quality with more quality of life features than switch online. Not to mention superior hardware, hall sensor joysticks that don’t drift, a sharper screen than the original switch, better ergonomics, the list just goes on. Yeah it takes a little bit of time to get everything set up, but once it is, the experience is far superior to a switch

Also just a personal thing for me: I think even $60 for a game is pathetic. I still pay for Nintendo games but I try to find them cheaper on eBay and other places because even 60 usd for a game is absurdly high. Of course, some games end up being more worth that money than others depending on how much you play them, but even still, 60 feels higher than Nintendo needs to turn a profit.

Eh
I guess that’s true
Buying the game comes with the expectation of playing it tho
Even if u don’t play it a lot at first, u will prob still end up playing it more later on

Ok, so I got the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World day of release, and here are my takeaways.
A: The prices are bad. I’m actually totally fine with the console, but everything else is awful. The one saving grace is that Mario Kart World costs 50$ if you get the bundle.
B: Mario Kart World is excellent, but there are reasons you would go back to 8 deluxe.
C: Someone should do an experiment to see if the magnetic controllers are addictive, because that’s how they feel. IT’S SO NICE
D: Everything looks better. Duh.
E: Irrelevant to lots of people, but I played Fortnite on the OG Switch, and it is astronomically better on the 2.
