Two  a day is two too many Ron.

You know the only way to stop is stop!

Plan a day ahead, say July 1st and say on June 3oth I smoke my last cig.

Make plans to be busy on the first day, see friends , make a visit, do something to keep you occupied. After one day without the second day is ten times easier , and so on to the third.

I haven't stopped  but I did come close to doing 2 cigs a day a couple of times this week. I have to be honest, I didn't do 2 I did 3.....but I came SOooo close.  Also, this is a constructive thread that can help many members. I think the're getting rid of all those SPAM threads.

Sorry I haven't kept up.....2 weeks of wild mood swings....feast or famine. I was honest about getting down to 1 cig with a 21mg patch on..... But it seems that by the end of the week, my heart had other signals to give me.meh.png  Guess I'll learn the hard way....don't smoke with the patch on..OUCH!evil.png  For 2 days....Fri & Sat...I thought I was having a heart attack. I was praying to God......"I swear, that's my last cig"nervous.png  I was SOO happy to go to my smoking class with 3 good days. This week, I'm back to no patch and smoking 5 a day.....but hey, 5 is better than 7. I'll get it down to 4 a day all next week.....I promise.angry.png

I know its been awhile but THIS I REALLY have to post. I've been stuck at 3-4 cigs a day for the past 2 months but today I put in a HURCULEAN effort. I went 17 hrs with 0 cigs, and 1.5 cigs for the whole day--24 hrs. WIPPEEeeee!.tongue.png

This is most likely of no help. I'm sure you've heard it all by now. I was a heavy smoker, on and off for 50 years now. Managed to quit cold turkey many times, often up to a year or two. (In reality it's quite simple, once the mindset can overcome the physical craving.) I don't smoke now, (for 5+ years) because I become quite ill smelling the fumes. What is as much damaging as the nicotine, is the heat effect on the lungs, especially cigs.  Anyways, some people will smoke their entire lives. Some live to a very long age, others not so. I took to a Pipe. Bought the finest briar pipes, smoked the best quality tobacco and did it up "right." Or so I told myself. Said to myself, if I'm to die of nicotine, go out enjoying it to the fullest. Cigarettes are a poor imitation of what many consider one of life's luxuries, with dying be damned.

vaping has helped me quit

personally nicotine is addictive but the actual smoke does more damage. nicotine has been proven to help people who suffer from schizophrenia

388 !! BRAVO

" today I put in a HURCULEAN effort."  ...to smoke only a few cigs.  BRAVO !!  Good.

Why? because it is EASIER TO JUST TOTALLY STOP,

nb the cig u lite is NOT the cig you smell and enjoy, not lighted. Work on that. It works.

For the moment, the cig u wati 17 hours look like a gift, which is not ! this "gift" allows u to stay addict life long.

"it is easier to stop than to contain " , same with terrorism : easier to destroy it (Chechnya) than to contain it (western). happy.png

I hope I'm not jumping the gun here but the last cig I had was Sun night.shock.png

Ron , you are over the first 24 hours, and from experience I can tell you that you are over the worst.

Just keep busy in the day , dont think of anything other than making it 48 hours.

For the first time in the 3 years of this thread you are over the hump!

Normally I hate going to my smoking class at the V.A on Fri mournings at 11am. I'm gonna like going this week. wink.png

FRENCHBASHER001

the first step towards the paradise, each day you'll stop to smoke, and it is the biggest victory, to face a lethal disease with success; bravo;

three weeks is the goal, after that, u'll start to think "how could I have spent 50 000 bucks in that dirty smoke, the best cig' is the one i don't lite" (just personal experience, each case is different).

Try to find some hobby, something interesting: cookin' i took 10 kgs !! but the taste came, i could have eaten cardboard before because i thought ot the cig after the lunch !!!

i replaced the addiction of tobacco by the addiction on ...threads, unfotunately for the nice members in CC. reason why i decided to pay a dimaond membership, could be a clever re-use of your money ?!?

to invest in sthg gives more adde value, Freud made the demonstration in the XIXth centuryhappy.png.

congrats on your progress, ron!
