Of Gossypol and Cashews

Gossypol is the chemical responsible for the pigment of cotton. I wrote a summary on this chemical which could have a tremendous use in another area which I will not go into here.

Some cultures are heavy consumers of cottonseed oil. Just so you know, gossypol is processed out of the final product that you find in stores.

Hmm, there is an irritant in the shells, a chemical or chemicals if you will classified as urushiols. The cashew producers cannot trust people to safely remove the nut without getting harmed. These group of chemicals are what provides the irritation in poison ivy and poison oak.
