So, if Monty Python ain't funny, what is?

Anybody who can state with honesty that the incisive parody of leftist sectarianism in Life of Brian is "childish" is clearly insane.

Wonderful. Reminds me also of:

These "Python is childish" people are maniacs.
If I don't understand something, I naturally think that anyone who does get the joke is just stupid.

This is exactly my point... that there is *nothing* special or hidden to *understand* about MP... infact its quite the opposite... in every one of their skits and movies they are *always* screaming and shouting their very *obvious points/punchlines* at you in the most unsubtle ways possible. If I make a joke and shout out a very obvious and expected punchline its not funny, unless your 5 or in some way mentally retarded.
Excuse the pun but humor is in the eye of the beholder. I grew up watching and laughing to Monty Python and everyone one I knew enjoyed their work.
Not to resemble a troll here, but I have a forum: 100 Top forum titles you won't see on chess.com. I will write my own jokes about chess and not everyone will like them or laugh but that's my humor. Tomorrow I will post a joke about Bobby Fischer, and some will hate it. I find chess and Monty Python funny.

That is because you are not funny. All funny people like Monty Python.

Two of my favorites that haven't been mentioned:
And one More:
And here are some comedians talking about Why I Love Monty Python. They're obviously all people who have the mental age of five or so, and are probably too stupid to appreciate the original poster's brand of humor, like the rest of us who like Monty Python.

Very much so.

Agreed.

Erm...
The Life of Brian debate was either funny or depressing:

This is funny even if it is only about Monty Python and not made by them:

When I think about it, I can't take either extreme of this argument. I never raved about Monty Python as a teenager (my brothers were much keener). Some of their stuff I found hilarious (but mostly not at the top of my list of funniest works).
I'd like to draw attention to what I consider as close to perfection as a comedy masterpiece can get. And it's live.
(I was going to say this has nothing to do with Monty Python, but I have since discovered that the late, great Peter Cook did happen to appear in one Monty Python sketch).
A couple of scenes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail:
