In fact, I was at that tournament, (I didn't do so well, I was 1400).

But I did see some notable mentions-but that's sort of irrelevant.

BUT, beating a GM at TEN years old, and HITTING 2179 in a FIELD of Titled players isn't short of impressive, so congrats to her. (YES, this was 8 months ago)

How does a child get born, and get a 2000 rating or more by the time they reach 3rd grade

I know an 8 yr old that's 2040 uscf, 1800 fide, and 1900 fide blitz, 3 time national champ, 1 time fide cadet champ. he beat like 10 of those guys. he lives like 15 minutes from me-
