OTF Guide to OTF 2.0

Hey guys, over the past few years I’ve been on otf I’ve noticed many people getting kicked out or disliked for doing things like copying, bumping, spamming, and that stuff.
There are also different variations of chat games people don’t like, so in this thread i would like to talk about what NOT to do in otf.
I would also like to speak about the different types of threads. Categorizing different types of threads would be nice, giving a new vocab to the community.


Here is what I can think of what not to do.


1. Bumping old threads.
Old - 2 to 3 weeks old threads. In my opinion at least.


2. Spamming
Pretty obvious


3. Copying other threads
I see people copying threads or making variations of them that people hate. Please do not do this unless you wanna get hated on.


4. Attention threads.
Seeing people make threads about throwing up isn’t that nice. If you want people to notice you, maybe be active in the community, be respectful, make friends, and youll notice people start to acknowledge you. Posting threads about your personal life or just useless threads in general will give you a bad reputation.


5. Making useless threads.
Defining useless: threads that aren’t that interesting and don’t serve a real purpose to otf. An example is a counting thread. Not only is it spam but it also is completely useless to the community. Please do not post a thread if it might not be interesting enough to keep alive.


TYPES OF CHAT GAMES:
There are various types of chat games, and I’d like to categorize different games as to talk about them easier. Here is what I know:


1. Roleplay (RP)
A thread where people can act as a character and interact with others in a set story.


2. Word games
Games that revolve around letters in a word.


3. Number games
Games that revolve around numbers. Can vary.


4. Opinion games
Now there are many types of opinion games like rating pfps, would you _______ to the person above you, and that stuff. Revolves about what the players think.


5. Story games
Games where players add to a story, like adding a word or 3 words or letters and so on. Games where people make stories. This could be categorized as a thread but in a way it is a game.


6. Person below/above me
These get their own subcategory because they are kinda unique compared to the others. I know I already mentioned person above me games above but these games vary. Some like TPBM has people answer above questions and some like TPAM (person above me) has people give their opinion on the person above you (opinion games?). Very unique category of games and are liked by the community a lot. I MEAN A LOT



Have I missed anything? I would like otf to be a nice, welcoming place to everyone and making a little “guide” can really help towards that goal. If I maybe got something wrong or missed something PLEASE TELL ME! I want this to be as accurate as possible for newcomers to feel welcomed.
