I'm in my late 50's, marginally overweight with a couple of chronic sporting injuries, but basically fit and healthy.
People People Please Go On A Diet !!!

Sorry, I agree with SpacePodz on this one. Exercise is beneficial but not absolutely necessary.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
SpacePodz did it. Are you calling him a liar?
I did it. Are you calling me a liar?
I don't know the details of SpacePodz diet, but I did keto. Worked great, no exercise required.

Here's an entertaining video from Dr. Ken Berry explaining the basic idea. He also links to a couple of papers (British Journal of Sports Medicine, and International Journal of Epidemiology):

I’ve trained fighters and wrestlers for years…they MUST be on weight. It’s science and it’s not a hard one despite what these new fad diets say or new workout trends.
It’s very simple: your body is a machine.
A calorie is a unit of energy(or heat).
It’s takes a certain amount of energy to run the machine.
If you intake less energy than the machine needs to operate(your calculated maintenance calories) your body MUST take it from its reserves….you would be violating the law of thermodynamics otherwise(which is impossible).
Working out is always a plus. The lost important muscle in your body is your heart and diet alone will not make your heart and lungs stronger.

Wrote down the calories of EVERYTHING you put in your body. I’m talking when you put ketchup on your burger measure the ketchup in a kitchen tablespoon and write down how many calories that tablespoon of ketchup had and add it to your daily total.
This is not hard and you will know EXACTLY how much energy is going into your body.
All foods have nutritional info on the back. It’s easy to read and if weight loss is your goal calories are all you need to focus on. Not protein or carbs or fat.
When my son was 12 he had to make 130bs to wrestle in his division and he was 137(because he had gained a little fat).
I proved to him he could eat McDonald’s THREE TIMES A DAY and still make weight.
He stepped onto the scale at EXACTLY 129.9….and this is common for wrestlers it’s not special.
McDonald isn’t good for you it’s crap calories and you could have TWICE the volume of healthy food and achieve the same caloric goals, but “calories in vs calories out” is the only thing 90% of people looking to lose weight have to know.

I've made that journey too. Unfortunately, I'm no longer one of the BIGGEST People here in the Forums...
