I see.
Problems in otf; and how to fix them
And the spam threads are fuelled by people who want to get popular. They won’t go away. The most we can do is make the good threads more active.
And mods wouldn’t lock it’s not against the rules, no one is spamming us such, and it being pointless is not against the rules. I’m sure in time when you make threads that you put effort in and they get 10 comments whilst you gaze at threads with hundreds that hold no value.
Maybe that’s the reason you have made the spam thread, how would I know. But this is lazy, and hopefully you will one day learn the cursing off the chance of fame instead of building a foundation will never work
Spam threads: There's not to do. People will continue making threads, are people will continue posting on them. Unfortunately, that's the way it is.
Out of context posting: This has annoyed me for a few months. A lot of people, especially in OTFDAN by the way, are freaky in hopes of being posted on AFMN's thread. I'm not exactly sure why they need that sort of validation, but it's easily stoppable.
New members: They learn with time. Most of them are just kids who are experiencing the internet for the first time. I'm no real exception to that. If we're kind and welcoming, then ideally, they'll learn a thing or two and not spam or break forum rules.
The majority of folks are low effort folks with short memories. These people spam and just post gut reactions, never constructive or proactive posts. This includes the virtue signaling simps who never really help but just encourage addictive and self defeating behavior.
Oh well, such is life.
All the bunny can do is help out when he sees people putting serious effort and thought into they posts. Otherwise it's just boohoos and woohoos.
Like said before the otf out of context therd is just people making inapotate jokes. I might be young but these "FrEaKy" posts are NEVER funny. Theres a good chunck of people who most of there posts are just trying to gt posted on there.
Abt the new members, People should learn the ropes of otf BY THEM SELF . We should not treat new members like babys. And ima hold your hand when i say this ITS.OK.FOR.THEM.TO.BE.A.MEDIORCE OTFER!!! Not everyone needs to follow the rules right away or be the next basix in the terms of fourms. Rember when you just joined it was MISCTAL MAIGCAL! sorry for the reffence Imagine joiing and being hound on the rules and "dont post this or that!" Is it annoying? Maybe. But just give them grace!!!
Spamming annoying thread topics and going against the TOS deserves to be called out. We're not treating them like babies, we're making sure they don't further add to the problem of spam in these forums. But despite our efforts, OTF is, and will always be, a place to spam.
These cause me pain, they get hundreds of comments and there is no topic or anything, literally a thread, sometimes not even with a twist. This has especially annoyed me since creating the otf history thread, I know people like it and all, but at the same time, these threads are filling up the screen.
You may not realise you are encouraging this, but commenting does increase the idea this is a good thing to get attention. Now I can’t say I’ve never ignored these threads, but I think if we all made a joint effort to not bump them if they were inactive for a bit, and ignore it if the creator bumps it. It’s even worse to see previous creators feel like they need to release a better thread every day. Be patient, an idea will come.
2. Out of context
People take this as a way to get popularity, and they think it is ok to do it on purpose. It defeats the point of the thread and also makes otf weird. The thread was good but people are taking it out of proportion.
I love the idea, but I think it is time it stops, people are pushing this into other peoples faces and it’s creating tensions between member, whilst I would like beef, I want it about a sill topic, not about people complaining about their quotes being blown out of proportion or used to much. It needs to end.
3. New members
Are they bad? No. Do they understand what spamming is, and what is or isn’t ragebait? No. We need a way to communicating these deep rules into otf because these people don’t understand it. As much as I would like to say it should be otf history thread, it isn’t actually what we need.
We need a guideline to show the traditions of this place as well as the original rules, it should help reduce the spam threads a little, and maybe help us see which members actually bothered to look and care.
-Thanks to anyone who read this, and this is another thread by the one and only Balviboy!
