The people who didn't get it made me laugh more than the joke. I can't believe them Aussies never mentioned AC/DC. Definately the best thing to come out of Australia.

Thats cause we are so tough. I used to live in england, came over here and even the ants attack you, i was chased by a brown snake (one of the most deadliest ever), sunburnt till i was red and stung by jellyfish.
But now im used to it, tanned and sunproof.
Acdc is just bogan rock. it was fun in the 70's.
Hiltop Hoods, Powderfinger, Silverchair and wolfmother are our big bands, and Elvis presley, not to mention the beetles, I guess you could say Oasis is alright too.
Now im having trouble with a crossword, and i didnt know where else to ask, so im asking here.
Its a 5 letter word, starts with "s", and the clue is "the condition something is in, often used to describe messiness, untidiness and bombed"
So to understand the whole 'joke' of this thread is to understand that state refers to messiness or untidiness. I honestly did not get the joke until this last post. 'The condition something is in' seems like a reasonable definition of state to me, but I looked on a few on-line dictionaries and my own personal one and could not find any entry dealing with messiness or anything of the sort. It seems that 'state' describing untidiness is slang in England and/or elsewhere. That is my best guess at least, and just so everyone else knows: That is why you don't get the joke!
