After a while I’m picking up chess again. And I’m serious to get a good rating. I’m currently 700/800-ish that’s where I left my account. I think I’m doing quite okay. I got some games I made zero blunders and only 1-4 mistakes (bunch of inaccuracies). But I keep reading a rating below 1400 is pretty much if you’re shit at chess. But I find my games quite challenging, in the instruction videos on YouTube they keep saying a below 1200 will make this or that mistake, but I don’t see them happening too often in my games. Such as undefended pieces. How come that players around 700 rating with a 10 / 5 minute games are that strong. It makes me feel stupid😅😅 and i feel like I’m never getting even at the 1400. While that’s average if I see the opinions online? Can anyone explain this for me? Im quite a clever guy doing uni, so I wouldn’t say I’m just dum😅

I looked quickly at your last 3 losses... In one you played the Fried Liver with black, a notoriously difficult system to play but your opponent didn't play the main line. In another you pushed pawns in front of your king and hung a bishop to a knight which also forked your queen and rook. In the last 2 of your minor pieces were forked by a pawn. So you hung some pieces... Things to work on - a little opening knowledge (don't go nuts, just try to get the ideas in the openings you want to play), a bit of strategy (it's almost always a bad idea to push pawns in front of your own king), and of course stop hanging pieces. Do a bit of tactics puzzles. And if you want to improve play longer games. Give yourself time to think carefully.

Okay fair enough. Thanks for the advice. I think I’m just a bit greedy, but time is on our side these days. Thanks again!
