riddle
The Chinese script (Chinese 中文字, pinyin zhōngwénzì, Zhuyin ㄓㄨㄥ ㄨㄣˊ ㄗˋ) or Hànzì (漢字 / 汉字, hànzì?/i, Zhuyin ㄏㄢˋ ㄗˋ – "Han script") fixes the Chinese languages , especially Standard Chinese, with Chinese characters. It is thus a central carrier of Chinese culture and served as the basis for the Japanese scripts (Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana), one of the Korean scripts (Hanja) and one of the Vietnamese scripts (Chữ nôm). There is also the Pasigrafie Safo, which is based on the Chinese script.
Altogether there are more than 100,000 characters,[1] of which the majority is only rarely used or is uncommon, has only been used temporarily in the past or represents variants. For everyday needs, knowledge of 3000 to 5000 characters is sufficient.
