And regarding his expulsion from chess.com, someone got upset in the Open Discussion club about something he answered.

Ok, so I think that solved many questions we had pending happy.png

ok ok ok... I come with news

I have s23bog on the other line (another channel of communication).

He says that the spacecraft is not a stationary device, and it can be rolled. It currently needs some effort to roll it.

Rolling power is clearly just what you need to get into space.

Whenever I receive more information from him, I will keep posting the technical details and answers to your questions. The thread is alive again! thumbup.png

I remember he said that first the contraption will travel to antarctica, crossing Drake passage. That getting into space was kind of a second phase once getting to antarctica was acomplished.

So, for the time being, in my opinion, it's ok if it works under rolling power until we enter phase two, right?

I think the project would be more clear if s23bog divides it into several clear phases.

I think it makes a lot of sense going to Antarctica first, since all space projects are always put under test on earth first, usually in unhospitable places here on earth, and Antarctica is unhospitable enough.

Avatar of OneThousandEightHundred18

I'm just curious what the ultimate goal is. let's pretend he manages to get to space with it. then what? what was the point?

Avatar of p8q

He also said the contraption could be a solution to transportation on earth, so not everything is about going into space.

Guys, imagine how is it going to be, one year or two ahead, when his plants have grown and he has the project more advanced. We will see it in youtube, it's going to be very very interesting to actually see the progress. Something really cool is being built and we will see it happy.png

it seems like wind is simply insufficient to create lift on its own and will cause the entire project to fail. airplanes are the most aerodynamic things ever made with tons of research behind them, and they still use loads of fuel. you need huge differences in air pressure to counteract gravity. A shape itself cannot generate enough lift without fuel.

this is great news for NASSA.

For some reason NASSA sounds like a feline version of NASA, so here are Cats in Space with their single Johnny Rocket:

Ah, ok. Now I understand.

I am aware that others were very shocked by some of what he has said in different places and rightly drew it to the attention of chess.com, who acted promptly.

Avatar of p8q

He is actually dividing the project into phases. He just said:

At Cerro Blanco, where I am building the prototype, the primary objective is to grow plants inside the structure. I may also be starting a project in Chañaral to build a playground structure. That will allow me to work with some other materials in the design's construction.

We can subscribe to his YouTube channel, where the technical discussion can take place:

So, I don't know if he will keep answer to this thread, since for that purpose we have already the youTube channel.

if "chess.com" acted objectively, they would either delete the promise "no religion or politics" or the elroch.
but i trust "chess.com" has a good reason to let you walk all over it ; )

They give leeway to adults who have topics of substance and who act in good faith.

If the behavior is bad let chess.com mute or ban me, not Elroch's topic.

Lies spread faster than truth. It's nice to make a place for important subjects of discussion that aren't full of ****.

Well, the ignorant try to stink it up, but that's why it's important to keep it around.

you see, this kind of comments makes You (mr. lemonade) looks bad. not anyone else.
you might think its sound sharp or smart, but... hmmm... just ask someone that care about you.

anyways, this also deemed this convo as useless... best to you.

Avatar of llamonade

I'm not trying to make friends when I talk about these things, I'm venting frustrations, I guess that's what makes me look bad.

It always sounds trite to say so, or maybe as you put it, "you think it sounds sharp or smart" but to see it from my perspective imagine a high percentage of adults believe in Santa Clause, and their thinking is so muddled you can't convince them otherwise. How would you feel about people in general?

Of course I know how this comparison sounds to most people, they'll snort and roll their eyes, but again those are the feelings and impressions that confuse people's thinking. People conflate different ideas like religion, spirituality, God, morality, and ethics. They roll it all into one lump... I saw a recent poll about qualities people wouldn't want in a president. Something like 20% said they'd never vote for a Mormon, but something like 95% said they'd never vote for an atheist.  This is like people saying they'd vote for Jim Jones but not Einstein. It's extremely difficult to get 95% of people to agree on anything, but again, it's because they literally confuse religion for morality.
