Some people sound like they're making a religion out of science, surely, but science itself resists the thought:)
Though I would really love to get a glimpse of this world once religion dies out. I can't imagine it being any worse than it has been for the last two-thousand yearsÂ
Religion has made too much of an impression to go away. But it certainly has been under attack for quite a while.
I too appreciate all the wonders of our scientific understanding, especially when sitting in the Doctors waiting room.
This reminds me of something a former editor of New Scientist once said in an interview. This was a man who single-handedly lifted the magazine out of the doldrums and turned it into the highly respected piece of science journalism it is today.
He was asked, what is the rationale behind New Scientist and his answer was memorable:Â
"Our rationale is that we believe science is interesting, and if you don't agree then you can fuck off."
how to understand a rabbit in science class: first you stun it on the vice to make sure it's dead, then knife it down the middle.
