Scotch

Any Scotch fans out there?

It's been below frezzing and the snow is here to stay for a while. It's this time of the year that a fine dram of single malt Scotch Wiskey sounds quite nice.

My fav region has always been Islay with my #1 pick being Lagavulin 16yrs.

It's been a tradition of mine over the years to pick up a nice bottle for the Christmas season and this years pick will be Talisker 18yrs.

So whats your favorite?

Laphroaig is my favourite. Very peaty. One of the finest single malts out there in my opinion.

As did I!  Obviously, this thread is inappropriate for the younger chess player!

I wonder if you'd play better drinking scotch while playing a scotch?

There are a lot of traps and swindles associated with scotch. Ok maybe it was funnier before I typed it.

I'm one of those people who'll happily drink anything, I'm hardly an expert of the finer examples of whisky, so you lot can have your expensive stuff, and I'll kill of some brain cells with the cheap crap thats left ;)

Well, since you mentioned single malt, I think you are on the right track, blended whiskeys are a waset of time...my favorite is the GLENLIVET, as for the Laphroaig fan, I must say I hated it, until the bottle was gone...

As for the Laphroaig, I hated it after it was gone. Dam was that ever a good bottle!

When I was in Vegas I got to see a bottle of scotch worth about $15 000, or almost a couple of thousand dollars a shot. I'm not sure why it was so expensive, but for that price it would want to be damned good. I prefer Gin anyway.
How are you finding Vancouver? It rocks! I was living there for the last 8 months, but have only recently moved to Victoria.

I bought a selection of cheap scotch whiskey in M&S in the xmas sales. I drank it... but cant remember what it tasted like. Come to think of it, i cant remember much of that night. So long braincells!

I've heard good things about Oban and Lagavulin, as well as Glenmorangie. Unfortunately for me, I've only tried Glenlivet, Glenfidich and Macallan as single malts go, and they're not that good.

Musta been some novel twist to the story behind the bottle. Scotch does warrant a good price but I halt at $100 give or take $30 a bottle... I'd rather drink Well Gin than cheap scotch and given it is a rare treat find spending the money worth while.

Vancouver Rocks! are you in Vic on the Island or Aussi land?
