I will be moderating Scrabble for Fun! I hope you can play! The winner of each game gets a trophy from the moderator. You will receive your 7 tiles from me once an opponent is found. I will be collecting the tiles from a bag, so I will not be able to see your tiles beforehand, to keep things fair. Game follows basic Scrabble rules. Move time limit: 48 hours maximum before forfeiting the game. Statistics will be kept to make the games more fun and interesting. Images will be provided of the Scrabble board for your turn and your opponent's turn.

Who's in?

ChessPlayinDude47

Folks, the excitement simply cannot be greater than what I am feeling for Scrabble in the chess.com community right now. We have already had zero participants sign-up for it, and that's a fantastic start! Now we're looking to recruit our next member. If you feel you have what it takes to compete at this level, please do drop us a line. Scrabble fever is here and July is the time!

Interesting idea

Would the Viscount care for a game with kaynight?

Would kaynight care for a game with the Viscount?

If so, I am ready to send you your tiles, gentlemen, and we are ready to begin our first game of Scrabble!

By the way, this Scrabble game features 96 tiles rather than the usual 100 tiles. This version features missing "A", "R", "U", and "V" tiles! So there are only 8 "A's", 5 "R's", 3 "U's", and 2 "V's" for an extra challenge, and also because I lost those four tiles.

Strangemover

I'll play

Anybody want to play Strangemover?

RULES FOR SCRABBLE:

For Scrabble we will be using coordinate identifiers like in chess notation --- there are 15 "files" (A - far left - O - far right) and 15 "ranks" (1-top - 15 bottom) in Scrabble.

Give me the coordinates for the point of origination of your word: for example, in the above picture, if you play the word: G A (Blank=M) E, then you would simply type: "G8 across: G A (Blank=M) E" and I would give you 10 points. If you spelled the word: (Blank=M) O N, then you would simply type: "I8 down: (Blank=M) O N and I would then give you 3 points.

Ok got it. Good luck twighead.

ChessPlayinDude47

Cool, Strangemover vs. twighead - GAME 1 - Get ready, get set, I will now send you your tiles,

gentlemen. I have picked an "A" for Strangemover and an "N" for twighead to see who goes first.

Lower letter goes first, so Strangemover goes first. May the Scrabble be with you! May the best

nerd win. Check your messages for your seven tiles gentlemen. Remember, you will have only

48 hours for each move before penalty of forfeiting the game due to excessive time expended.

ChessPlayinDude47

I will be allowing words from The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary - Third Edition (English words) and The American Heritage Dictionary (English).

Hm, this is interesting. Can I still get in? I consider myself pretty decent at scrabble, though I've never played in a tournament, I have 30+ average word online...

You sure can!! Who wants to play WeakChessPlayedSlowGreatScrabblePlayedQuickly, people?

Hah-hah, just kidding about the username...

Anyone up for Game 2?

ChessPlayinDude47

Ideally it would be nice to get eight participants, so we can have a tournament!

That would be pretty cool.

ChessPlayinDude47

For reference: remember we will be playing with a missing
"A", "R", "U", and "V", so 96 total tiles in the game...
