Its often said by young girls that theres a dual standard between the sexes ,one bone of contention is a young male is lauded for his sexual conquest whereas a young girl is stigmatised,

The Hippie phenomonon happened mostly in the USA in the 60's as a peaceful rebellion against the Vietnam war,It centered in Haight Astbury district of .S.F.and peaked in the summer of love,Mostly drug fueled it burnt out as quickly as it ignited ,Heroin and overindulgence claimed my innocents lives, the man made inane demonic claims against grass ,kids thought the man was lying about Heroin aswell.he wasn't !This song celebrates tne early optimism of those days ,Sung by Scott Mckenzie ,a guy more at home in a 3 piece suit than a kaftan but, anyway have a listen to
SCOTT MCKENZIE SAN FRANCISCO
Many moons ago myself and two friends drove to Belfast to catch The Stranglers live at the Ulster Hall ,Outside the venue the police were circling the block ,which was queued full of Belfasts hardcore ,as the police drove by empty wine and beer bottles cannoned of their reinforced landrovers,We 3 ordinary mortals were unsure of how this would unfold. The police turned us over ,searching our car but all was well ,They issued us dire warnings about what would happen inside the Ulster Hall ,We decided to be brave but waited until everyone else had entered especially the Nazis,On gaining entry past shaken cops, the sight that greeted was serene and as peaceful as a hippie festival ,Little kids playing and having fun on the outer fringe of the massive crowd ,It was very cool until someone stole one of the Stranglers leather jackets but thats anothe story....

The 60's threw up many characters who were so high on lsd that they babbled quite a lot ,mostly about themselves ,The High Priest of Acid was Timothy Leary "turn on ,tune in drop out" mantra encouraged many young people to hit the "hippy trail"and incur the wrath of Uncle Sam,Another group were called the Merry Pranksters"(google) And one can't forget The Who's Keith Moon who whilst playing a "dry" state in the U.S. dreseed himself up as a cop and confiscated liquor from Who fans to use for a back stage party, 3 songs that capture those nutty days....
