Hey  everyone , I'm playing a tournament quite soon and need all the info I can get! My question is- What should I concentrate on the most? Openings,Tactics,Chess Mentor, Endgame? I know all of these these demand time and I will give them it but which is the most important? Any info on how much time to spend on each of these and how as well as what else to study would be gratefully recieved!

Thanks!  Smile

For your level, tactics, tactics, tactics, a few more tactics, and then after you're done with those, do some more tactics.  The other thing is focus: check to make sure you're not hanging any pieces with your moves - in other words, force your opponent to outplay you instead of throwing the game away with blunders.

Also, don't get angry or lose your temper; cuttin' off heads of queens 'n' stuff. :P

I concentrate on the openings.  Trouble is there are too damn many of them and the openings set the tone of the middle gamThe basics are: develop your pieces keeping the center squares in your cross hairs without weakening one side or another.  a GOOD OPENING GAME IS GOOD TACTIC TO START WITH.  Even very early, kep an eye open for a blunder from oponent, avoid making lone yourself.

If your oponent leaves a drink unattended, take it.  This accepted gambit worked well for me in many tournaments.
