In the interest of the original thread topic. :)

I admire your defense of your reputation, Babs, and I fully understand why you are doing so.

The latter. It was just an attempt at humor for Babs sake. It wasn't a jibe at you. I am not very good at humor though. No worries.

I know some people will react to this statement, but we are all racist. It is a fact. With that said, there are ways we can deal with it so we don't act it out with other people. We are hard wired to respond to  different people with differnt levels of fear, distrust, even repulsion. One strategy that works is to practice talking to different types of people as often as you can, for example, I make it my practice to talk to homeless people now and then so I can 'engage' someone outside my normal day to day sphere. It can be VERY challenging to do this, but I find it calms my 'reaction' to homeless people when I encounter them in an awkward situation, or see them in conflict with another person. My example is about what I percieve as a homeless person, he or she may or may not share my race. I don't reccommend anyone claiming they are 'not racist' this statement alone is a trigger, in this case I may believe you are not of racist intent, and that is what counts...your INTENTION, not your words! That said, your words may trigger responses in others who may not be aware of your TRUE intentions. I wanted to add these words because we all have so much work to do on the topic of Race. Thanks!

Posting somebody name here is not the way to go about this. I hope the mod or staff have some sense to lock this thread.

Yes, all humans are members of the same species of primate, and as such there is no objective reason for us to think one random group of us is any better or worse than any other. I think the completion of the human genome project under Francis Collins has helped confirm that we are all one species, and that the differences between one race and another are very, very superficial.

And, I of course agree that Babs has only exhibited evidence of a respect for humans in general, and lack of racism.
