The Ashes 2023
2 very close Tests - not much separates the teams.
Johnny Bairstow underarms the ball at the wicket against batsmen all the time - more than any other keeper - it just happened to be done to him and he was out of his crease.
The Poms have 'rested' Josh Tongue after just one Test. He doesn't need a rest - he was one of their best bowlers. The Poms are in disarray!
Absolutely not. Hitting the ball to a close in fieldsman is the same as missing the ball through to the wicketkeeper - you wouldn't move out of your crease either way, but Bairstow did, and got stumped. If the umpire had called 'over' the ball would be dead, or if the keeper was throwing the ball to a fieldsman who was relaying it to the bowler, the ball would be dead, but neither of those things happened, so the ball was still live and so Bairstow was stumped out.
The English papers will have you believe that, but it's all sensationalism - plenty of retired England cricketers like former captains Mike Atherton, Nassser Hussain and Michael Vaughan have said Australia played by the rules and did nothing wrong at all.
Yeah. But I do want to congratulate England on a fantastic day in the field today - they dropped their 14th catch of the series - and we're not even half way through. Their fielding is a shambles.
If this continues, by the end of the series, they'll have dropped about 40. ![]()
The Poms did well today - got us all out for 263. But we got 3 late wickets, so the 3rd Test is evenly poised.
The Poms win the 3rd Test and are back in the game! They deserved to win one and it keeps the Series alive.
