the chess second

this is for classical western chess.  i offer it to chess.com and if they wish to copyright it or own it for themselves in some other fashion i hereby give up all my ownshiprights to them, for this is a valuable world site of chess.

"the duel"

this is a simple concept of tournament chess.  one player challenges another.  quite usual.

the new idea is that each player has a "second" ...as it was with duels in the past.

it is simple.  the original players set up their game.  each also chooses a "second" ( a player who will replace the first player...no rating choice is allowed..thus the "second might be 800 points above his own first player...how interesting...can the "second" ( who might be brilliant, save the dead position of the first player on his team ? ).

you see the interest.  first, to choose your second player...and then to prove to your chosen second player that you could win the game without her or him...but if you felt you were in such a poor position you had to leave the game and let the "second" take over...

if the first  player  gave the second player a truly lost game..thus a private disgrace between the two..if the second player found a way to draw...what a kindness...but if to win as a "second"...what a champion.

but, remember...each original player on the other side has also a second champion....

the second champion of the other side is unknown...both to the "seconds" remain unknown until the appear.

i believe that the game is worthy of only a few for the site.  the site should ask for $20.00 usd for one game a day only.  if it is widely successful, then they should ask for more money rather than to increase the number of play

the "second" would pay no money.  it is merely the difficulty to fight over a lost  position that lets them put themselves up a "second"  on this list.

for the value of the great game..the decision to allow the second to enter the game over the original player is at the ninth move.  at the tenth move of each player the "second"..( and the twenty dolllars ) is lost.

only those who truly love chess willl be willing to spend $20.00 to start such a match.  they are also those who feel they are capable not  to need a second...but they are  also  those who ( among the list of  the volunteered "seconds" that they might wish to win a "twin game"...to win a game with your own imagination and then to pass it on to someone you respected...this is  the community of chess.

the initial player may not choose him or herself as a "second",

Your understanding of duels is different than mine. I thought seconds were there to arrange the terms of a duel, and to observe that both parties acted honorably, not to take over if the dueling party gets wounded.

However, accepting your definition, others have already beaten you to the punch.  Some players let their silicon seconds take over for them when they are losing.  They think it funny, perhaps, to bash their opponents with a wizard-like comeback.  Most people call it cheating.

Now you propose that chess.com allow such arrangements for a fee?

it would be fun.  it would make a  little money for the site.  if you did not wish to partipate you could ignore it entirely.  for those who like the idea they could participate.  i see  nothing wrong with this.
