It's symbolic, but is also important.

why is it important? to me, it feels like it's trying to instill a sense of loyalty into kids who don't even know what a country is yet

Avatar of stormyyynoway

or what their country has done, is doing, and how it differs with the world

Avatar of stormyyynoway

it feels like the kinda thing you'd only get under like China's current government

Avatar of charm_hyunjiniret

it's not that creepy

of course a country wants to teach its children to be loyal from a young age.

you might not see it as right, and it might not be, but it makes sense

Our country seems to feel like it's important to make kids stand up for two minutes to pledge allegiance to a flag, even at like, 5 years old.

Old enough to hold a rifle, old enough to fight.

Fun fact the pledge was first put into schools in 1892 but at the time you had to preform the Bellamy salute which kinda looks like a certain other salute from a certain European country that had a failed painter cause ww2. They removed the salute in the 1920-1930’s because of the failed painters regimes rise in power and because of our involvement in the war. (Yes ww2 started in 1939 but the German government still similar ideas beforehand. In 1942 we added the words under god and replaced the salute with putting a hand over our heart. THE END!!!
