You know it's time to stop it all, when, as you feel very clear in your mind in spite of being very drunk, and can't find your pants anymore as you need to go out.

Don’t mix drinks?

I assumed he was joking, but I wanted to set the facts straight to reduce any possible confusion.

One of the bad things you can encounter when drunk is that, some people will be aggressive with you, if verbally or even physically, knowing that, since you're drunk and they are not, the police and then the judges will give you wrong automatically no matter what happened. And this sucks when you've done nor said nothing wrong, but these nasty people take you for target.

Mean town…

When I was young, I've been 5 years long a homeless punk. As such, I had to fight for defending myself, about 200 times in 5 years. It mattered not if you were drunk or not: you was having the same horrible life anyway. Being drunk back then, only lessened the pain and made life more bearable. It's a miracle I did not end myself in that time.

I confronted with a burglar breaking into my house two weeks ago, and I am not even allowed to shoot him! At least let me punch him?

Fortunately there were witnesses and the police were called.

A lot of times, when a person is drunk (at least drunk enough to affect speech), they don't want to admit that more than their speech is affected.  Claiming a clear head while drunk is just an excuse to keep drinking.   They don't realize how obnoxious they are acting and how others will want them to leave them alone.  Then the drunk will continue with "why are you being so mean?"  This drunken persistence will only escalate the situation and will aggravate the sober person to the point of "being mean for no reason".  This "clear head" claimed by the drunkard can also become very dangerous, as they will convince themselves that they're clear-headed enough to drive, putting innocent lives at risk.  Melvin Garvey, you need toadmit that you need help, before you kill someone or yourself.  "Slurred speech" and "clear-headed" are oxymorons.  They don't both exist at the same time.

Well, he said earlier that he's been sober for three years.

You want to shoot someone who is not attacking you with a weapon? I guess you may punch the intruder, beware not to give a killing blow tho.

I assume it was the gas man until I heard rummaging in my back porch.

I confronted him. In hindsight, I should have let him break into my house and then kicked his behind all over the kitchen.

That's great that you are three years sober.  Congratulations.  But drinking never affected you except for your speech.  So why did you quit?  Of course, you are the exception to the rule and can handle alcohol better than other alcoholics.  That's what all alcoholics claim.  But you're the only one who is right.  That's what all alcoholics claim...getting the picture?  Okay, you don't drive.  You missed my point.  If you think your drunken logic was flawless and your quotes impeccable, what would've kept you from driving a car?  I know you didn't have one.  I'm saying if you did, what would stop you from getting into the car and driving with your "clear head" and "flawless logic".  That is what is referred to as denial.  All the DUI killers believed that they were clear headed.  I'm not talking about you, who really does have complete control of your facilities, but of the other 99.9999% who are wrong.  Again I ask: Why did you quit?  Maybe because of the damage it does to your liver?  But not your brain or thoughts?  Do you understand that being an alcoholic means you're addicted, right?  " i was an alcoholic, a real one, but without an addiction syndrom"

Hot. It was summer: +35° Celcius. (cold continental climate)

I would have never guessed. Did you eat camels? I heard it tastes good.

I would try it.

Congratulations @MelvinGarvey. November 4, 2018 for me.

Never saw a camel there. never heard there is any. Most of the year it's very cold anyway. The summer is short (2 months) and very hot. Such is the climate there, along the southern border. North, beside a few mining cities and military (forbidden) cities, barely anyone lives.

I may be thinking of the Gobi dessert? #Mongolia
