I suffered the exact same issue! In quite a few of my games either my move didn't get updated when I made it or the gams where I was lowest on time and had to make a move just didn't show up on my list as they normally do. When I realised something is wrong as I suddenly got timed out off multiple games, I went into the list of games which don't show up as highlighted(because its the opponents turn) and sure enough there was a game where I had to make a move with 40 mins left. And on the top of my list, the most urgent I had to make a move was around 16 hours!!
Please fix this problem Chess.com and refund points to whoever has lost due to this bug

If you lost a game or games on timeout due to the bug, open a ticket to support and they can handle it.

Google has bugs and process issues. I'm fighting them now to get an email account restored because someone claimed the owner of the address was dead ... which any due diligence would have shown that not to be the case.

Ok, I won't even argue about it (I did not say google does not have bugs, btw). Suppose google is equally bad (it is not, but suppose it is). Does it somehow excuse chess.com and makes this situation acceptable?

I'm saying even big companies with much larger numbers of developers and resources have bugs. I didn't say it makes it acceptable but it certainly makes it understandable.

I know what I have said. Can you point where exactly I said that google has no bugs? Ok, let me spare you some time - you can't, because I never did. (I did say that I never saw one, I hope you are capable of seeing the difference).

When bigger companies (btw, the fact that the company is bigger does not make it easier to ship quality software, in some aspects it makes it even more difficult, I worked in big companies) deliver buggy software and screw up their customers, it's equally unacceptable. And people who get affected are right to be upset (especially if they are paying customers).

No, it does not make it understandable, @Martin_Stahl

This was a serious violation of Sys-Admin 101 stuff.  You never, never, never, ever touch the Production system with any sort of update or code-change until that has been verified by the Operations team on the Test System.  That is insanely basic, trivial stuff.  How a code change was allowed to get into Production is beyond me---even if it was to add in some new Fonts.

That is what the Test System is for -- to verify you're not screwing up something unintended.

Then, the REACTION to their goof was equally amateurish in nature.  Just Rollback the system and pretend nothing happened.  Let Support deal with the aftermath.   That is callous beyond belief... .

There is no way to Sugar Coat this, Martin.

Like it's been mentioned it's a problem that's ongoing and hopefully be sorted out soon for everyone. If any games time out as mentioned in other posts please contact support with the game links and we can see if they get reinstated if it's down to the site issue.

Enjoying a cup of hazelnut right now and enjoying the foolishness for a minute or two.

Perspective is in order.  Bugs do happen, but for most of the people jumping on the IM, they fail to realize how much more time and effort went into those games, and that the rating points being refunded is meaningless...because the the games themselves are incomplete and gone, which could have been avoided with a timely notification to users that their moves were about to be "erased".

Imagine you had 20 games of IM quality chess that have taken months and months to reach a certain position, and then they just stop your games and you can never complete them.  If this happened in the 8th round of Tata Steel OTB ("sorry, we are stopping all games due to a fire drill, but we have decided not to complete the games later"), there would be a riot.

If you cannot understand the frustration involved, you're not a real chess player.

Peppermint hot chocolate right now. Under some fluffy covers and playing chess too. Ah, the life

I think most do understand the IM’s frustration and others as well. The time invested by not just the OP is an issue without question. Continually banging on the Mods is a different matter.

OK, you didn't say they don't exist just that you've never seen one. meh.png

I made an extrapolation, based on your comment, that may have been incorrect then.

I don't use any Google services (except YouTube). From what I've heard, Google does indeed have bugs periodically, but they tend to patch them quickly. Microsoft, on the other hand...

The site isn't pretending nothing ever happened. They haven't responded the way you want them to, or even in a way that would be best, but they certainly aren't pretending.

If you can't see that major bugs are things that happen to a lot of companies, of all sizes, even with great practices, I guess there's not much else to say ...

I am not advocating for that.  Martin is trying to do his best, and it's not his fault there's a vast gulf/divide between mods and customer support staff, and staff and devs.  Money and honest effort are not being spent to bridge these divides, and it shows.  I've been an inside witness to this process, and it just gets more obvious the deeper you dig.

In fact, in this very case, it was mentioned in a certain channel that proactive communication of what this bug had caused should go out to prevent these type of results, and it went ignored and unresponded to.
