I've always been puzzled by the fascination that some folk have with fashion. Looks come, looks go, then they come back again. Sometimes, very occasionally, a new look will erupt and go viral (punk and 'new wave' spring to mind). The dynamic behind this process seems almost abritrary but there's one look out there which appears to be unaffected by such whims.

Gothic is, always has been, and always will be the coolest, sexiest, sassiest look ever:

You must be kidding, man!

Pirates are gothic. This is a very serious matter!

It has touched so many other forms, even science fiction:

It crosses generations:

It has even spawned some sub-cultural forms of its own, eg Steampunk:

"Long live party even if there isn't any meal tomorrow"!? Typical of our ex-colonials...
