Not sure if this was answered yet so @ me if it was but I'm guessing the answer to riddle # 3 is that the pencil casted a shadow on the ruler, where the shadow changed positions or disappeared altogether once it was night... ?

Neither of our math works. Ok, 7 wives, plus 7x7 sacks (49), plus 7x7x7 cats (343), plus 7x7x7x7 kits (2,401), plus the man, plus me, equals 2,802. THAT should be the answer...
7*7*7*7+7*7*7+7*7+7+1+1
=2401+343+49+7+1+1
=2802
