I was thinking about dropping a half sphere dome onto the ocean floor, covering an archaeological site and then replacing the water with atmosphere for the purposed of excavation in situ.

Lots of tech jobs on an operation like that.

Feasible?

Various attempts were made at building underwater habitats in the 1960’s. A number of multi-day up to as long as a week projects were undertaken.

The complications of delivering atmosphere and other supplies were formidable.

Because of the cost and the dangers, efforts were curtailed in the 70’s.
