I recently signed up for chess Im 57 and have not played for probably 20 years. All i want to do is practice against computer before i play anyone else but it wont let me. I have working java but cant get past download screen thinking of just uninstalling everything.    ZEUS125

Playing against a computer isn't going to help very much. Just get out there and play some real people and have fun.

Playing against people will be fun, but i believe the computer will help my game i want to be considered a worthy opponent for anyone. It wont take me long to see how good my game is, so anyone who can help with  a answer to my problem please do.                                      ZEUS125    

I'm not being flippant here; you will be a VERY worthy opponent to SOMEONE here. If you look you'll find that the ratings range from the 400s to the 2300s. Somewhere in thereyou will be a formidable foe.
