If it takes 6 men 6 days to dig 6 holes how long would it take for three men to dig half a hole?
PikachuIronMan

3 men = 6 days = 3 holes

0.5 men = 6 days = 0.5 holes

0.5x6 men = 6/6 days = 0.5 holes

3 men = 1 day = 0.5 holes

PikachuIronMan

One day!

PikachuIronMan

Wait no I change my answer

it isn’t possible!

PikachuIronMan

There’s no such thing as half a hole!

New riddle for maxkeplerisme since he asked… In Flatland, everyone lives on a 2-D plane with no concept of height. (Like a piece of paper on your desk.) If a sphere of arbitrary dimensions were to use height to pass through the plane, going from top to bottom, in what form would the citizens of Flatland see the sphere?

2D

I think you might have misinterpreted the question. They are in a 2D plane, and a sphere with height slowly passes through that plane. How would they see such an event? This problem was not mine, and the thought experiment was proposed by someone else a long time ago.

They would see half a sphere slowly passing above them ig
RealTactics960

They would see a circle getting bigger and bigger until it reaches a certain size and then shrinking until it vanishes

Dragonwarrior, that is nearly correct, but barely misses it. Do you want a hint?
RealTactics960

Not right now

Sure

RealTactics960, almost right, but I can’t give it to you because it’s technically incorrect
RealTactics960

They would see a portion of the circle, the same way we can only see part of a sphere
