Umm I don’t know how Lt start this but title pretty much explains everything

You can bring politics and religion I want to see some debate too

"Grand Unified Field Theory".........I've got a picture of it.....

Perhaps you can start by giving us a brief description about GUT. Be sure to include what is the problem that requires possible solutions to said problem. Then you might be able to get people to gain interest in this topic. Keep in mind that this does not seem like a topic for the average, common knowledge posters. Good luck.

Thanks for your idea

Il do it later

So the grand unified feils theory for people who don't know is simply us trying to reconsile the 4 fundamental forces being weak and strong nuclear force, electromagnetic force and gravity In the quantum world when say 2 particles collide and a photon is emited which releases the same particles after going forward The issue is that there could be an infiite ammount of virtual particles creted and anilated In between Now this obviously is an issue But a person named Richard p Feynman solved this He told us to only focus on the change happening through this procfess we eliminate the

aarnavhps

Infinities this is called renormalization but when we add gravity we have take in account that the spacetime fabric could be in an infinite ammount of positions and then we run into a problem which aus not been solved

On the assumption that you actually know what you're talking about, you need to be talking with Elroch...... and no, religion & politics don't apply.

Odd that you bring this up. I woke up this morning with an unusual thought. What if the electromagnetic field is really just an electric field and a magnetic field that are so tightly coupled that they seem to be one field? The strong and weak forces may be different interactions between those two fields and gravity.

Quantum physics fascinates me. I understand many of the concepts, have no clue about others, and know almost none of the math. I just like trying to suss it out. I know the standard model is much simpler than they used to believe. I think it is still too complex. My gut feeling is they will eventually discover things are interwoven at a more basic level than we can detect or predict currently.

But I'm just a mostly ignorant observer.

This is a good idea and I’m glad to see that you’re intersected but the issue of renormalisation isn’t really solved through this
aarnavhps
Also on the electric and magnetic this would pose that there are 2 different fields with the same mediator interesting… could it be that just like how in the Big Bang all forces we’re together and split at one point just like that the electro magnetic force will separate once say a particle is able to decay into that mediator

Sorry for bad English

Well, first of all, it was just something that popped into my half asleep head this morning. It was probably bubbling around my subconscious since I posted in the "Random" thread yesterday. Of course, without knowing many the actual proofs scientists have come up with regarding the actual number of fields in reality, I can only make mostly ignorant guesses. It just seems strange that two somewhat exclusive properties exist in the same field. You either have electricity (no movement of electric charge) or magnetism (movement of electric charge). As a charge propagates through space-time it is constantly flipping back and forth between electricity and magnetism. Maybe it is really flipping back and forth between two different fields.

I dunno. I haven't been able to get a good grasp of the fundamental forces since I learned that gluons create mass and therefore most strongly interact with gravity. Thing were fuzzy enough for me before that. My brain likes patterns and doesn't like when patterns are uneven or don't seem complete. The current standard model just doesn't seem like the best pattern for building reality.

I can understand where your coming from and yes it does seem to make sense now

aarnavhps

Navy they both are diffrent but they both use the photon whichis why when there a electric charge running it creates a magnetic feild mabby the feilds are the copy of the same thing but they interpret the photon in a diffrent way

aarnavhps

Instead of flipping mabby they both exist simultaneously (not a superposition but them exististing together). This either way dosent add too much currently

Gomer_Pyle

I don't know about them existing together. If I understand things properly then the magnetic field is at zero when the electric field is at maximum, and vice versa. I just found this Youtube video which explains quite a bit but doesn't talk about the magnetism part as much as I would like.   Understanding Electromagnetic Radiation!

Wait, I just found this one that might be better. I haven't watched the whole thing but the narrator also did the Chemistry series at the CrashCourse channel on Youtube, so I trust he has a much better understanding than I do. Electromagnetism - Magnetic Force: The Four Fundamental Forces of Physics

I'm bumping into these videos while searching for one I wanted to insert here. I'll find it soon, watch me.

Ok, I found it. See? That didn't take long. To really mess with your head, here's that video which describes how electric power really reaches your house. It isn't by pushing electrons all the way there. That would take far too long.

Before i watch this Vedic I believe the one form veritasium is notorious for being debunked even grant made a vid on it

Well I have an idea about something it’s probably stupid but hear me out
