Paul Morphy died in New Orleans on July 10, 1884. The low temperature that night was 79 degrees, the daytime high 90 degrees. How many snowstorms happen in those conditions?
If the low was 36 degrees 50 miles away, it is very possible that a little snow might fall in Goldfield. If the temperature was 90 degrees at the very time and place of Morphy's death it is not possible that a snowstorm was involved.

Stachelski wrote that a weather station in nearby Goldfield, Nevada, also recorded snow falling at 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 29, and daily weather maps from the Weather Bureau show that an area of low pressure had moved ashore in Northern California on Jan. 30.
"Oddly enough, temperatures during this time period in Death Valley were shown to be above freezing," he said. "The morning low on the 29th was reported to be 36 degrees, and the afternoon high was 65 degrees."

You look about 10 in your profile picture.
Sigh. Don't troll the forums for people perhaps believing this silliness. The famous chess player Paul Morphy did not die in a snowstorm, nor was he murdered.
Morphy was found dead in his bathtub in New Orleans (hot climate most of the year and really shouldn't be getting any snow at all) and the autopsy report showed that Morphy likely suffered a stroke from the cold water he was bathing in contrasted to the typical New Orleans heat.

Science on cold bath increasing danger of stroke
he died while fighting a mafia boss. Apparently he was in some deep trouble and the mafia is also why he quit chess so early

I dont get these polar bear clubs that plunge themselves in ice cold water. I know its really healthy for you, but I'm a wuss.
When I did a sweat on the Nez Perce Reservation one January, half of the men plunged into the creek that ran past the sweat lodge; half did not. It can be hard on the heart, but those who did it insisted that it was good for them.

Those Polar Bear Club activities take place in cold climates where people through many generations have developed a high tolerance for cold--survival of the fittest. (My ancestors came from the shores of the Baltic, and until I reached age 70 I couldn't wear a ski jacket or heavy coat and engage in much physical activity outdoors if the temperature was above 10 degrees Fahrenheit without being terribly uncomfortable and drenched in sweat.) Often, the water is actually warmer than the air when these events take place, and nobody stays exposed for long.
Paul Morphy died in the Vietnam War fighting dirty communists. It was a sad for chess.
Just proves that people over 125 years old don't make good soldiers.
The story is that In 1884, he was in the middle of a snowstorm. That is when a big menacing man with a big machete came in from the chaos of the blizzarding snow and started to chase Morphy. He ran, but the big man with a machete eventually caught up with him and tried to murder Morphy. Morphy had just barely survived, and went home to wash his hands because he was a big germaphobe, which is also the reason he didn't go to the hospital.
He was feeling extra filthy so he took a bath, and that is when a bat came from the ceiling and ran into morphys cut wound, then killing him
he was murdered in the snowstorm, actually
Yep, he got murder in a snow storm this past Saturday night!
