What has the Off Topic Forum become?

The off topic forum used to be a place of discussion about basically anything non-chess related, now this has a so-called “government” which seems to have very little practical executive power. This is absurd, these people have come to chess.com not even to play chess, but to take part in some political system and just to talk, which I have nothing against but find a little weird. Is anyone else here who has been on the site for more than a year at least slightly concerned?

i disagree with the point about coming here just to talk, as there has been quite a few great people here. this political system is a tonne of crap anyway so just ignore it

Wow, did not expect so many replies so quickly. My opinion is that this government of (presumably) under 15 year olds is simply just stupid and chess.com mods are simply going to etiher ignore this or shut it down.

If you go back ~300/400 pages of the forum you will find a time when the Off Topic Forum was not a community of its own but rather a place where chess players could simply chat with each other about non-chess related topics once in a while.

Yes Chesspro, it was not as crazy as it was today. It has gotten taken over by crazy people
The point of the government is to revive the place. Surely it’s better than what has recently been going on here, don’t you agree?

Canto bail has been on longer it’s a new account chesspro
