The old french form of execution "to forget" is likely a contender
They would throw you in a pitch black, very very cramped hole with a decomposing body, cover the top
(likely the last person to be punished this way)
then leave you to starve and rot.

There are also more psychologically torturous ones too, such as an old form of execution where they would force a rat to eat through your intestines while you were still alive (in fact i think it was used as recently as the late 1960s)

The worst way to die is when you’ve turned off autosave because it like keeps buffering your framerate, and then you forget to save your game for four hours and accidentally die.

id say ether impalement, rat torture (where mice are put in a cage on ur belly, and hot coals are put on top of the cage, so the only way the mice can escape is by eating through you) or bamboo torture (where your tied down, and bamboo is planted under you, and slowly the bamboo grows and impales you) or scaphism (where you are force fed milk and honey until you get diarrhea , get trapped in a small wooden boat until you are eaten alive by bugs who want to get to the honey you ate)
