office with windows comes in a trial period. if you use it, you must then buy it to get what you've saved after the "free" trial is over.

It's bundled in. I've always gotten it free with each computer. I've gotten 5 over the years,and always bought from the cheap end of the counter.

Apple products are pretty high quality.

Apple barely has ANY virus protection. They don't need it. So few people use Mac that it's a waste of time & effort for hackers to make malware for Mac OS.

the percentage of those using mac or ipad is smaller than those using microsoft, but my guess is that the statistics are all based on cost.

microsoft products are cheaper, that's all.

No, but they make Mac Minis.

my mac mini (at work, i don't use apple products personally) committed suicide in about a year.  guess who didn't buy warranty cos it was a reliable apple product?

regarding your mac mini, maybe apple dropped the ball with integrating systems you need. it happens. it seems to happen more with other os.

Thanks guys I will look those up because now Microsoft is now throwing up on my screen a window that says "Update now" or "Postpone". No way to X it out. I resorted to just shutting the power off imediately, not taking any chances.

os are kinda like the internet and cable providers. an oligopoly provided by our federal government.

sad, really, but, it still doesn't explain how cc can't figure out how to make the site work regardless of os or provider.

Windows 10 is no good at all. Micro$oft switched me to Win10 against my will and my computer promptly crashed! I am now using Ubuntu--a Linux flavor. Ubuntu uses an easy desktop just like windows and if you want to run windows programs such as Lucas Chess or SCID vs PC you can use WINE, a free download. Ubuntu runs much faster than windows and does not need an anti-virus program. Did you know that Linux is being used by the space station and by the space satellites? Lets all switch to Ubuntu and make it our official chess os. Ubuntu is much more stable than windows and doesn't crash so we can save our data bases on it without worry. And did I mention that its free? And did i mention you can get a pile of free software from an easy to use repository that comes with it?   BTW this includes great office software such as Libre Office which is free while Micro$oft charges hundreds of dollars for their office software! Give the finger to greedy corporations like Micro$oft and go with Ubuntu! 

Well, the Windows 10 free download is expiring today!

I didn't want it even when it was free.
