When 2 isn't better than one

I found the following article to be fascinating, but it's hard to really give a rats ass one way or the other. BUT I guess that's like saying one should not treat every game of chess as a matter of life and death!

i agree with his argument, but it leaves me with the burning question that should be asked anytime someone is that enraged about something... "WHO FUCKING CARES!?" I wish I had time to worry about something as meaningless as that. So yeah... that should probably also extend into why should I care so much when I lose a bullet game up 14 points of material. Good point.

Well, look, losing a bullet game up 14 points is INDEED worth getting all worked up over!  But to your point, aesthetics perfades everything in this world, from paper coffee cups to, yes, even Ikea furniture.  So why shouldn't the thing we look at more than any other be beautiful?  The problem, as you can decipher from this reply, is that many of us were taught on manual typewriters, by manual typewriter teachers, in manual typewriter schools. I can try to take the extra space out of my writing. But it's not easy! Nimzo, I'd recommend this as part of your party platform, but it seems as dictator you don't need or care about votes.

im only 25, but was taught how to type in the second grade maybe before the 2 space thing was obsolete, and I'm sure by someone who learned on  a typewriter. After learning that it was not correct anymore, it took me 6 years (!!!) before I could fully retrain my thumbs to only hit the bar once.

The bullet thing is actually not worth wasting emotions over. Once I'm down 5 seconds in time because I use a laptop with no mouse (much slower to click), I just try to play better. I usually do, and I usually lose. But bullet chess isn't really chess, so it doesn't matter.

I learned how to type on a Royal manual typewriter - I seem to recall Royals were considered to be at least Cadillac(?) quality, if not exactly BMW or Mercedes quality among typewriter brands. I also recall believing that Smith-Coronas were about Ford Pinto quality... I also remember lusting after an IBM Selectric in the Paleolithic (or was that Mesozoic) era prior to Word Processors, much less PCs; and I finally got one when a rather shady pal presented me with one that was pretty warm to the touch (I guess he couldn't hock it at the local pawn shop) but by that time I was using a Word Processor with way more capabilities and options than any typewriter.

What the hell did this have to do with the original question??!!

This is the first time I ever heard of only putting one space after a period.

You need to get out of the house more often!
