Which countries do you travel to?

I’m planning on going to Brazil first. Brazil is one of top 4 countries in South America https://travelblogportal.com/destinations/top-4-countries-south-america/
Ideally I want to live there for at least a year but Visa rules for US citizens only allow 90 days max. So I’m thinking of going to Thailand and Philippines afterwards. I don’t really want to come back to the US for a while…
So it got me thinking:
Which countries do you travel to? do you come back when your visa expires? or do you just go to a different country with a new visa and just keep applying for visas for different countries?
