What i am saying is that we shouldn't blindly believe what one media outlet reports.

and what im saying would cover catastrophic such asteroid impacts

If you read the same story from two outlets like that you'll definitely see what the other side is leaving out, and sometimes it's pretty ridiculous the way they twist stories.

But the false equivalence is pretty annoying. CNN might tell a story about a guy who acts like a piece of crap and leave out a minor positive detail while Fox might deflect by saying "look what this crazy college professor said about the guy acting like a piece of crap, lets pay attention to this college professor no one has ever heard of, or will ever hear about again instead of the piece of crap guy"

It makes no difference to me what media outlet someone watches.  What worries me is the blind faith they have to the one they do watch.

Well, definitely people should try to read the same story from a few different places (I don't like watching news because they're over dramatic).

Even something like late night comedy. They'll play a clip, lets say of Trump, saying something, then they'll cut him off mid sentence to make him sound crazy. If you find the full clip sometimes they've really given a wrong impression.

But other times nope. It really was the full clip lol happy.png

But yeah, don't have blind faith.

Had this discussion a few weeks ago with someone.

The posted how Trump killed a 16 year old kid at an ICE detention center.

So i asked how trump killed him?

Well it was trumps fault be cause he had him locked up.

So...Trump locked the kid up?

No, but he started those camps.

What camps?

Those ICE camps.

Actually Obama started them.

No he didn't.

Yes he did (sends proof)

I don't want to discuss this anymore.

Yeah, there's definitely a narrative they try to make true by twisting things or leaving information out.

Now, I think the objective (and unsurprising) fact is that a man with no relevant experience, knowledge, or skills is bad at his job, but sure, the media is overzealous in explaining this sometimes.

Unless you're running for reelection, no one has experience being the POTUS.

Ok, but the general category is public service. So someone from the military or a previous office like senator. As far as I know Trump's the first without previous government or military experience.

Also some people go to school for certain related things, say, like someone who studied the constitution.

You know, other stuff, like there are certain countries that I (probably) couldn't find on a map. That's just how it is for most normal people. But some of those countries have a decades long history with the US, and if I had to set international policy it would be worth knowing about things like this.

People voted for Obama because he is black.

People voted for Hillary because she is a woman.

People vote for who they want for all kinds of weird reasons.

Sure, people are huge idiots, I 100% agree with that.

But also I think it's reasonable to point out that for any job it's useful to have relevant experience, knowledge, and skills.

I mean, lets say I wanted to be your doctor. Sure a lot of idiots could vote me your doctor because of my dazzling smile, but that doesn't mean I'm going to do a good job.

And just think how much better off this country would be if we the voters of this nation actually studied, read about, learned about, and used critical thinking when voting.  Instead of just voting for the party i always vote for, and then spending the next 4 years whining about the result.

Yeah, and what's more... interesting? depressing? is that I think it's just human nature. A well run government will never exist, I think. So it's like picking your poison.
