Why does the king move one dumb square?
He’s royalty! Shouldn’t he float in air?
Yet there he goes, slow as a snail,
While pawns get turned into queens on bail.
Why do bishops only go diagonally?
Are they allergic to straight-line strategy?
Do rooks and bishops have beef we missed?
Is that why they never coexist?
Who invented en passant—some prank?
Like, “Ha! Surprise, your pawn got shanked!”
It’s barely used, no one remembers,
Except that one guy in club on Thursdays.
Why can knights jump? What's their deal?
They ignore all rules, spin like a wheel.
They hop in L’s, they ruin your day,
And somehow fork both rooks and filet.
Why must we shake hands when we lose?
Can’t I just flip the board and snooze?
They say it's honor, class, and sport…
But I just blundered—file a report.
Why does white go first? Who said so?
Was it decided by some ancient bro?
“Let’s flip a coin!” “No, white’s the vibe.”
Now black just suffers—subscribe to survive.
And what’s the deal with opening theory?
It’s move ten—I’m already weary.
If I don’t memorize line by line,
My opponent says, “You're doing fine…” (He lies.)
Still we play, with rage and flair,
Shouting "Check!" to empty air.
For all the questions, we find no clue—
But hey… it’s either this or Sudoku.
