Why are these forums full of kids?

I’ve been in many different websites that have forums. Most of them are full of interesting threads and debates. I decided to join chess.com to do a few games. When I saw the forums, I decided to check it. The first thing I see are just random children running around.

Has this this place always been like this?

It’s evolved quite a lot in the 16 years off topic has been around for. It started off with mostly adults, and slowly more kids came here. Now, I’d say it’s a good mix, but definitely more children here. Of course, you’re just some random alt and already know this, so why did I just explain this to you?

I’d say both are equally bad. Reddit isn’t an improvement from here, but if you care so much about being mature and whatnot, you can troll with the other forumers over there. “Dads of Reddit, what’s your life story”?
