Why do muskets take so long to reload?

I mean seriously, you load the muzzle, you get the bullet and shove it down the barrel with the rod thingy, then you cock it and fire, yet it takes like 30 seconds? I mean seriously, I would think it takes like 15 seconds, if it takes that long to reload then your better off just charging the enemy with a bayonet!

Well, in a battlefield, back then you wouldn't be the only one with a gun. The opposing group and your group would have their people reload their gun in a way that they fire consecutively so when one person is done shooting, another person would have reloaded. Point being that, you would get shot before you reached your enemy no matter what time you choose to charge at them, so using a musket would be the best way to approach the enemy.

depends on what type of musket

I assume you mean A Charleville M1777

First you would prime it

then you would get your gunpowder, ram that in, then your musket ball out of the bag, ram that in, then you would cock it, aim, and then Fire

it wouldnt take 30 seconds, more like 15

earlier ones were bulkier and harder to load

I don't know how historically accurate Sharpe is, but he advocates for skipping the ramrod altogether https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9RAh1J4NE0. Three rounds a minute.

A. Why on chess.com?

B. It’s harder than you think. Also, back then everyone would shoot at the same time, so you would have to wait.

Imagine reloading one of those while people are shooting at you... 30 seconds would seem like forever
