Computer Workout

I just discovered this feature.  It's a nice feature and somewhat useful as a training tool, but with a few minor changes it would be great:

1.  Get rid of the text in the upper right telling you what the basic idea is.  Or at least give an option to turn it off.  I try not to look but it's hard not to.  I have to use 6 post-its on top of each other to block it out so I can't accidentally read it -- an unnecessary killing of trees!  Wink

2.  A nice feature would be to allow random selection within a theme in addition to just random from the whole problem set:  like letting the user choose random endgames, random middle games, etc.

3.  It needs more positions in the problem set.  I go through randomly and I'm starting to see more and more repeats.

good feedback!

Hi Teshuvah,

I agree.  Options are always best.  I think it might be valuable to allow several options for different things there:

1.  The objective.

2.  The engine evaluation.

3.  The silly comments in red.  (Things like, "Try not to kick yourself, you were winning and now you're losing," get old after awhile.

Overall, it's a very useful idea:  being put in an "interesting" position and being free to try things against a strong opponent.  I've learned a lot -- mostly about my own sloppy habits...
