Downgrading membership - a good customer experience.

Today I downgraded my membership (that was going to expire in Feb 2010) from Diamond to Gold, mainly because I was not making use of the Diamond features. I use chess.com primarily for learning and for the community, and while ChessMentor and Video Lessons are both fantastic tools and well worth the price, I feel they are too advanced for my current level, hence the decision.

It is not without surprise that I have realized that chess.com gave me the opportunity to “convert” the remaining time of my membership as credit for the new one, therefore I now have 1 full year of Gold membership for just 2 dollars!

I believe there are not many sites giving users this kind of flexibility (may be when upgrading, but for sure not when downgrading), and I would therefore like to say a special thank to Erick and the staff – this is really excellent customer service, for me!

I give myself one to two years to get better with the basic stuff, and then I will for sure get back to Chess Mentor and the video lessons!
