I am NM ( in two countries ) and also qualify for the CM title but dont want to pay the fee connected to it so havent been awarded the title. CM is 2200-2299 FIDE where NM ( USCF ) is 2200-2399 USCF. Portugal also awards the NM title to players of 2200-2299 FIDE.
so did you have to pick which NM got you your membership here? :)
National masters and above get a free diamond membership.
Even CMs and FMs do - see http://www.chess.com/members/view/Kacparov and http://www.chess.com/members/view/FM_Eric_Schiller.
Both of those are higher than NM.
I wonder what's lower than NM (I'm inept at the rankings besides GM, IM, WGM, WIM)
I believe WFM and WCM, for 2100 and 2000 FIDE ratings respectively, are not recognised by chess.com.
I am not sure now. on this page this box is shown:
WGM
IM
WIM
FM
NM
CM - Grandmaster
- Womans Grandmaster
- International Master
- Woman Intl. Master
- FIDE Master
- National Master
- Candidate Master
which implies that WCM and WFM are not recognised by chess.com. However, look at this member's profile. so perhaps chess.com used to recognise WCM and WFM, but then stopped? i am not sure
Thats not correct . The title CM and NM are roughly equivalent.
