Guess The Move Training

A certain tactic website has came out a feature called guess the move and I think the idea is great that I wish chess.com could emulate especially for improving and premium members. Solitaire chess is a great way to train. I'm willing to upgrade if that is what it takes!

Is this what you're looking for?

Thanks for the link, will check it later. However, the app/site i'm describing has the following features:

1. It runs on the site just like tactics trainer here, hence no need to download or install anything;

2. You follow a classic game and you take the winning side. Each choice you make has a corresponding score. You will gain a score even if you didn't make the exact master's move as long as it follows the same or stronger idea;

3. You can start from move 1 or skip up to mid game;

4. The first 3 games are free (as far as I know) and the rest is available only to premium members.

I believe that these are outstanding features that can be adapted at this site.

I rechecked the site. The free games are only two: 1. Marshall - Capablanca and 2. Fischer - Spassky!

I found one such lesson in the chess mentor; you play as Morphy.

It's not that challenging and it doesn't work exactly the way you suggest, but you may enjoy it and it does illustrate that the mentor can be used for this purpose.

Yes, that specific feature is great. I only wish chess.com can have the same. Overall though, chess.com is still the better site hence I'll just use the freebies from the other one.

Yeah, this would be an awsome new feture , you should ask the staff about it.

ernestosim01

Well, if I can afford both, why not? The offerings are different so it's not stupidity in the end.

300% is in fact an understimation. You get unlimited tactics (is it?) for free and less punitive for my mistakes. My only complain is the interface.

Is it the same for free and paid members?

Chessgames.com, there is only 1 free game! P Troeger - Tal, not two.

Ernesto is talking about a different site, chessgames has had guess the move since the beginning of time.  The one that the other site just released is WAY better though.  Are we not allowed to mention the other site for some reason?   I notice that Ernesto seems to not want to mention it so I will not ruin it for him.

I'm afraid that the admin will close a healthy forum just because we mention a competing website. I once ask if someone tried x website for opening training and it was closed in no time. For some reason though there are forums that mention the same but remains active for a long timeFrown

Hehehe. Got it;-)!

I was part of the testing team of this guess the move feature, and I agree it's very good.

Nice to hear that! Is there a chance chess.com adapt that feature as well? What shall it take to be added here?

GagarinGambit

I played one of the free games, and it was quite interesting. However, it could use some improvent: the gui and the chess engine used are outdated, it would be nice if it would explain in what way your wrong guesses are poor, and an elo estimation would be more familiar than the point system. That's where chess.com can step in and introduce the feature in an even better form.

It says it's in beta stage. Perhaps improvement will come especially as it's offered for premium users. At the moment, chess.com interface is still the best.

it has it now just go to a live game and guess the move make it on the board
