Is 'Premium Membership' useful?

Hello All

What is your take on the Premium Membership offered on chess.com by itself, and also when compared to similar memberships offered by other sites?

Do you see tangible value in it?

Or is it just to remove ads from our profiles...

Ichart.

lol

I see gold membership that way, but not platinum and diamond. Of course, it really depends on whether you'll ever actually USE the features in either..

Agree, I think gold option has been put up just to make the other two look good...

How often do you use the Diamond membership features?

I disagree with the opinion about the gold membership. Its a good membership when you don't need more than 25 tactics, dont watch the life shows and do not use the game explorer, further it's almost equal to the platinum membership.

However because the platinum membership is only an euro extra per month I would say don't do so silly and just upgrade to platinum instead of gold.

Thats the reason why I started with platinum. Then I discovered chess mentor and noticed that I could learn a lot with it and thats the reason why I upgraded to Diamont. Chess mentor is really a nice way to learn basic checkmates and the more advanced ones, pawn king endgames, positional knowledge etc.

I upgraded a month ago and have a total training time of 28.65 hrs with the chessmentor Smile

Just for the videos I wouldn't upgrade. A lot of them have bad sound quality, however some of them are usefull and I did make a to watch list with about 10 videos. Smile

Diamond membership is a great value and a great price ! The chess mentor features and educational value cant be beat. A diamond membership is 99.00 a year . In US dollars that is .27 a day !

Hello Ms.Jean

I appreciate you financial argument, however is it not a talent killer in terms of not encouraging amateurs to think independently and influencing then with pre-existing notions, and thereby hindering the advanvement of the great game that is Chess...

Hey Dana

That is precisely the reason why I opted for the platinum membership, and just like you I clicked above 25hours in the first month, but once my school started, the number plumetted to sub-5hours...
