Crystal Lake Wins Florida Polk Scholastic Chess Championship

For those members of the Lunatic Soldiers that took the time to play clms player I wanted to thank you, especially junibus. The hard work paid off as they won it all... Crystal Lake Middle School's first Chess Championship ever! What you may not know was that CLMS was the only non- Acadamy school that placed in the top 7 (out of 21 middle schools). The team of 22 students 6-8 grade, had many whose family could not afford the registration (the school and myself paid for them) and were competing against teams composed of students from very wealthy backgrounds. The season was based on four tournaments held once a month starting last October. After all was said and done... it all came down to clms_chessRM, a student player many of you have played, vs. the #2 Ranked undefeated (15-0) Kevin R. RM beat 'em! If Kevin would have won, his team would be celebrating as they were 1/2 a point ahead of us coming into todays final team tournament.

Im so proud of them!

Hey Jenubis! All the practice of which you were a part of.. really paid off. In addition to Polk Scholastic Chess Championship... CLMS also took First place as a team and individually at the St. Petersburg Tournament.... Twice (Feb and March). Thanks again for all your help.

That news is overwhelming! My school's chess team disbanded... lol.

Not like we were really good... but now I have no chess club to join period.
