No chance. No offence, but Magnus ( who is technically not even world champion) was 2000 at the age of ten, and by the time he was 13 he was travelling the world to play in international tournaments as a grandmaster. Furthermore, there are many talented 9 year olds such as Bodhana Sivanandhan and Ethan Pang who have broken records as 2000 rated 9 year olds

If you are 9. you have a whole life ahead, you can dream anything and you can achieve anything.

keep the head up and pursuit what you believe.

if you are 9 you have your whole life ahead of you. MOSTLY TRUE. (except for those first 9 years)

you can dream anything. you can achieve anything. TRUE.

you can achieve anything. DEFINITELY NOT TRUE.

You cannot achieve surviving a black hole for one

No. I imagine Capablanca or Botvinnik who asked in newspapers regarding this topic. No way. They did not have time for this.

More than 3 months have passed, and the kid is still rated 300.

So the answer is no.

It's a sad fact of life, but if you're not 2000+ at this stage, you aren't going to make it to world champ, GM maybe, but not world champ.

Even this isn't quite soul-crushing enough. Unless you're a child, you should already be 2600 if you're even going to consider World Championship.

Most World Champions began their journey at about 1900 in childhood. Then, they quickly grew into the 2000s in their teenage years, with some of them already jumping to 2600. You should know if you're going to be World Champion by age 20. You'll know this because you'll be rank #1-5 in the world and have a rating of 2750-2800 (classically speaking, this means, to be 2600 or whatever the highest is at that time).

I don't think any serious or long-lasting Champion was ever bad in teenage years, and was ever below rank #10.

For example:

Carlsen was rank #1 or #5 at worst between about 2008 and 2025 so far. And he was rank #1 for most of those years. He was rated between about 2700 and 2833 (peaked at 2882, with 2889 unpublished). He was 16 to begin with.

Fischer was about rank #8 to #1 between 1958 and 1972 (GM/age 15 to World Champion). And he was rank #1 for most of those years. He was rated about 2550-2600 to 2785, with unpublished rating of 2820 in 1971 after beating Larsen 6-0 (?). He was 15 to begin with.

Kasparov was rank #1 between about 1984 and 2005 (he quit in 2005). He was rated between 2700 and 2851, give or take. Unpublished peak of about 2863, if I can recall. He was 21 to begin with.

Most of the Soviet Champions were great teenage players and rated roughly #1-5 in the world for decades, with ratings of 2650 or so. This would be 1947 through the 1970s. They only became World Champion whenever they were rank #1-3, I believe.

Out of maybe 400 million active Chess players in the world, and likely 1 billion across time, there have been only 22 World Champions. It's one of the most difficult things to achieve in life. Only 18 held the Classical title, and some of them only gained it due to others quitting, which would bring the total list down to about 15.

I know it's been a couple of months, and I don't disagree with what you're saying, but I was answering in the context of the OP being 9 years old (assuming that's true)

Anything's possible, you will need to put in a TON and a half of work.
