Kids and chess

Ask any kid what are his favorite sports or things to do after school not many will tell you that they like chess that's a bad thing, why? research shows that kids who play chess have a better chance of being succesfull in life and are much smarter than the average children. but most kids are not really interesed in chess beacuse they say it's boring or for "nerds". but those accusations are FALSE, chess is a very fun and mind challenging game which makes you SMARTER so when a classmate tells you that you are uncool or a "nerd' DON'T listen to them. trust me i've been trhough that, people have told me that anyone who plays chess is a loser just dont listen to them and keep going to the chess club in your neighborhood beacuse nothing bad will happen to you, on the contrary you will grow better every day at this awesome game. if you, kids have any problems with your chess or if anyone is harassing you beacuse you play it, send me a message and i will try to help in the best I can. Game for "nerds"? maybe in US but here people usually admire a chess player - very hard to find one in Greece.

Dunno really why, while I find it pretty interesting most people here don't even know how each piece moves just like me 2 days ago lol

It's just not so popular here, only a handfull knows how to actually play.

Hockey? Blah..

And my dad says people admire chess in Serbia (so it looks like chess can be popular (or not nerdy) in europe, as mentioned before, in Canada and US, chess is viewed as nerdy.

in my opinion, kids already spend a lot of time sitting down and being asked to memorize and learn new things. so, in their free times they like to get up and run around. when i was in elementary school i occasionally would go to the school library and play chess with some of the other kids, but for the most part i preferred to run around and be silly.

Apart from me I dont know anyone.
